James Cox is a queer artist, activist and community organizer. She grew up in a small town in Michigan, and after high school, she moved to Chicago to attend the Illinois Institute of Art. While living in Chicago for 6 years, she was part of the Fight For $15 campaign and helped form retail and restaurant workers union. James centers her activism around labor rights, human rights, racial and gender equality, and anything that involves the freedom and liberation of oppressed people. She currently lives in Oakland, California with her dog, her 3-year-old daughter, and 7 roommates in a co-op.
